Managing Difficult Employees &

Disruptive Behaviors in Healthcare

Healthcare leaders face unique challenges when managing difficult employees and disruptive behaviors that can impact patient safety, team morale, and organizational culture. This webinar describes disruptive behaviors, assists the learner in identifying risks for this type of behavior and provides interventions to allow staff to intervene early to mitigate violence.

Presentation Objectives:

  1. Participants will be able to define disruptive behavior
  2. Participants will be able to identify disruptive behaviors among employees within their work environment
  3. Participants will be able to maintain a safe working environment




Delivering Safety: Protecting Mothers, Babies,

and Providers in Rural Communities

This webinar addresses the critical issue of obstetric deserts in rural Louisiana, and the liability challenges they pose for rural health clinics (RHCs), hospitals, and federally qualified health centers (FQHCs). Participants will gain practical, evidence-based strategies to reduce legal exposure and improve maternal care access, including strengthening emergency protocols, leveraging telehealth, enhancing workforce training, and implementing robust internal policies. Designed for healthcare administrators and clinical leaders, this session delivers actionable insights to safeguard patients and providers.

Presentation Objectives:

  1. Identify liability exposures related to obstetrical deserts for rural providers in Louisiana
  2. Implementation of actionable strategies to reduce risks and improve outcomes for patients
  3. Discuss ideas that organizations outside of Louisiana have implemented to reduce risks in these areas

Managing Safety & Security

in Physicians Office Practice and Clinics 

To educate healthcare staff, particularly those working in rural healthcare settings such as physician office practices & clinics, on essential safety and security measures necessary to protect staff, patients, and visitors, ensuring a safe and secure healthcare environment for all.

Presentation Objectives:

  1. Identify common safety and security hazards in clinical and rural healthcare settings and apply best practices to maintain a safe environment.
  2. Explain key components of physical and electronic security systems and describe proactive protocols to safeguard staff, patients, and visitors.
  3. Demonstrate understanding of the roles and responsibilities of healthcare staff in implementing and sustaining safety and security procedures even with limited resources, as often seen in rural health facilities, office practices and clinics.


Patient Safety Risk Reduction

in the Rural Health Environment

To educate rural healthcare professionals and leaders on strategies to identify, assess, and reduce patient safety risks unique to rural health settings. This presentation emphasizes the importance of adapting patient safety protocols to meet the challenges of resource limited environments while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, patient-centered care and safety.

Presentation Objectives:

  1. Recognize key patient safety risks specific to rural healthcare environments, including challenges related to geographic isolation, limited access to specialty care, and care coordination across settings.
  2. Apply evidence-based strategies and tools for mitigating patient safety risks in rural settings, focusing on high-risk areas such as medication management, communication failures, care transitions, and emergency response.
  3. Foster a proactive safety culture by encouraging incident reporting, engaging frontline staff in safety initiatives, and integrating risk management into daily clinical practice.

Allison Rachal, RN-BC, CPSO

Sr. Patient Safety Consultant

Ms. Allison Rachal has more than 30 years of nursing and clinical risk management experience in patient care, patient safety, risk management, case management, medical malpractice claims review, quality management, and nursing administration. Her direct patient care included emergency room, behavioral health, and home health care responsibilities. She is well versed in healthcare regulatory requirements (TJC, CMS, DHH) and industry best practices. She frequently educates and trains members on various patient safety topics. Ms. Rachal holds an ANCC Certification in Medical-Surgical Nursing, is a Certified Patient Safety Officer, and is certified as a Management of Aggressive Behaviors (MOAB) Instructor-Trainer.


Caroline Stegeman, RN, BSN, MJ, CPHRM, CPSO, ONC

Director Of Patient Safety


Caroline Stegeman, RN, BSN, MJ, CPHRM, CPSO, ONC is the Director of Patient Safety at LHA Trust Funds. With over 30 years of experience in healthcare and risk management, she specializes in clinical risk management and patient safety. Caroline holds a Master of Jurisprudence in Health Law and has extensive expertise in managing patient incidents, patient complaints, medical malpractice claims, emergency preparedness, and hazardous materials management. She has collaborated with large acute care hospitals, critical access hospitals, behavioral health facilities, rural health organizations, FQHCs and urgent care clinics, focusing on proactive risk reduction strategies, quality improvement, root cause analysis, failure mode effects analysis, and workplace violence prevention to ensure the safety and security of patients, staff, visitors, and physicians.

Ms. Stegeman is also well-versed in regulatory and industry best practices, including those from TJC, CMS, DNV, and LDH, and possesses strong skills in patient safety, clinical risk management, hospital emergency preparedness, disaster management, and quality improvement initiatives. She is a Faculty Member for the American Society for Health Care Risk Management (AHSRM) and holds the credentials of Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM), Certified Patient Safety Officer (CPSO) and Orthopaedic Nurse Certification (ONC).





Glenn Eiserloh, CHSP

Sr. Risk Consultant

Mr. Glenn Eiserloh has more than 21 years of loss prevention and risk management experience. Mr. Eiserloh has a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Orleans in Finance with a concentration in insurance. He provides consultation services relative to workplace loss prevention, safety training, general liability risk reduction, worksite safety inspections, and trend analysis. He is well versed in OSHA standards and best practices. He holds a CHSP certification, is an OSHA Authorized General Industry Trainer and is certified as a Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Instructor-Trainer. He is an active member of the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) and the American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers (ASHRM).




Stacie Jenkins, MSN, RN, CPSO

Vice President of Patient Safety & Risk

Stacie Jenkins, MSN, RN, CPSO, Vice President of Patient Safety & Risk, brings more than 33 years of nursing and leadership experience. Her background spans clinical practice across diverse settings and executive roles in risk management, quality and performance improvement, case management, infection control, and regulatory compliance with DHH and TJC standards.

Ms. Jenkins is a member of ASHRM, ANA, and LONL, and holds a Master’s degree in Nursing Informatics from Walden University. She leverages her extensive expertise to lead consulting services focused on risk management, patient safety, performance improvement, loss prevention, trend analysis, on-site risk assessments, project management, and nursing education related to professional and general liability as well as workers’ compensation.





Steve Johnson, COSS, CHSP

Sr. Risk Consultant

Mr. Steve Johnson provides consultation services to hospitals and healthcare facilities that are members of the LHA Trust Funds regarding safety issues related to general liability and workers’ compensation. Mr. Johnson has approximately 21 years of experience in risk management, including on-site risk assessment, safety training, and accident investigation. He is a 2005 graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science.
